Programs rooted in horticulture, history, and the stories landscapes tell.
I offer engaging talks and educational programs for garden clubs, museums, historic sites, libraries, horticultural organizations, and community groups.
My programs draw on my work in historic landscapes, productive gardens and orchards, traditional horticultural practices, and the relationship between plants, people, and place.
Explore how gardens reveal the people, purposes, plants, and changing ideas that shape them- and what they can tell us for our future.
Programs exploring historic herbs, traditional plant uses, kitchen gardens, preservation, and the connection between past horticultural practices and our future sustainability.
From historic fruit varieties to edible landscapes today. These programs explore the long relationship bewtween people, fruit, gardens, and place.
Selected programs include:
Hanover Garden Club, Montshire Museum of Science- Historical Horticulture for Sustainability
Herb Society of America, John Jay Homestead- Historical Herbs and their necessity today
Shaker Symposium, Enfield Shaker Museum- Historic Plant Varieties developed by the Shaker people
New England Agricultural Teachers- Traditional soapmaking methods for the classroom
Dartmouth College Dept of Chemistry- Blueberry Jam 3 Ways, how processes developed through history lead to the resulting spread beloved today

Not every program needs to come from a fixed list. I am particularly interested in developing talks that connect horticulture with the history, collections, landscape, or mission of the host organization.
Programs can be developed for garden clubs, museums, historic properties, libraries, schools, horticultural organizations, and other community groups, with formats ranging from illustrated lectures to demonstrations and hands-on programs.

Programs are available in Vermont, New Hampshire, and throughout the Mid-Atlantic, with additional travel arranged for individual engagements or groups of programs.
Winter 2026-27 dates are currently being scheduled
Virtual programs may also be available depending on the topic and organization..
